Why Genital Dryness Matters?

Why Genital Dryness Matters?

Genital dryness affects people with vulvas and those with penises because the genital skin is delicate and needs oils and moisture to stay healthy.

After age 40 oil (sebum) production falls and by 60 many people have drier skin, so gentle daily care matters starting at an early age.

Prevention is better than chasing dryness!

Skin dryness involving any part of the body is uncomfortable especially when it comes to the sensitive skin of the genitals.

Genital skin deserves the same hygienic attention like the way we care for our face.

The skin of the genitals is susceptible to dryness if not taken care of properly, starting at an early age.

Why it’s a problem for both genders?

Symptoms can be disruptive including itching, burning, pain with movement, exercise, or sex, and increased risk of infection.

Genital skin dryness causes:

  • inflamed skin
  • scratch marks
  • bumps
  • spots or blisters
  • dry, cracked skin
  • leathery or scaly patches

These cause physical discomfort and emotional distress, interfering with work, exercise, sleep, and intimacy.

Cause of Genital Skin Dryness

The loss of skin oils, moisture and hydration makes genital skin fragile and prone to breakdown.

Persistent abnormal moisture, friction, occlusion, or irritants worsen damage and allows yeast and bacteria to overgrow.
